Thorns
Melee fighters hurt every enemy that lands a hit on them, for flat damage. Here is where the damage comes from.

What Thorns is
Whenever an enemy lands a blow on you and you survive it, your Thorns deal flat damage straight back. It can land the killing blow, so a fight you would otherwise lose can flip on the enemy's own swing. Against bosses, each landed boss blow also hurts the boss for 2% of its max health. Melee only, ranged fighters have no thorns.
Your Thorns damage
Flat sources: Thorns Mastery tree nodes add 0.5 each, the Thorns trinket prefix rolls 0.3 to 0.6 on 1x1 and 0.3 to 0.9 on 2x2, and the trinket implicits and Codex stack the same nodes. All flat sources add together, then every increased source (Increased Thorns Mastery nodes at 10% each and the Increased Thorns trinket suffix at 3% to 6% on 1x1 and 3% to 9% on 2x2) adds into one bucket applied once. So the damage is (node flats + roll flats) x (1 + increased%).
When it triggers
Only when the enemy's blow lands and you survive it. A missed enemy blow hurts nothing, and a fatal blow ends the fight before your thorns can hurt back. The damage is flat, so it does not grow with the enemy's hit.
Worked examples
The formula again: (node flats + roll flats) x (1 + increased%). At level 50 a full setup hurts the enemy for roughly a third of the damage you deal over a fight.

Where Thorns comes from
- Passive tree: Thorns Mastery adds 0.5 per node, Increased Thorns Mastery adds 10% increased per node.
- Trinkets: the Thorns prefix rolls 0.3 to 0.6 on 1x1 and 0.3 to 0.9 on 2x2. The Increased Thorns suffix rolls 3% to 6% on 1x1 and 3% to 9% on 2x2.
